Its high elevation and cooler temperatures made it a summer haven until the availability of cheap airfare and the opening of the New York Thruway and Garden State Parkway offered easy access to the New Jersey shore, the Catskills, and other resort areas that were once too far away.

The trails at Brundage Park Preserve are perfect for spotting wildlife and admiring nature, and its pond is used for fishing and ice skating.
